According to a source, former Illinois standout guard Brandon Paul has entered the NBA D-League player pool.
Paul played in Russia this season for BC Nizhny Novgorod where he averaged 5.9 points, and 2.5 rebounds in 22 games. Paul opted to play in Russia after a solid Summer League stint for the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The 6’4″ 200 pound guard went on record earlier this season stating his decision to head overseas rather than attempt a run in NBA training camp, was a financial one. Lately, we’ve seen players leaving the NBADL for overseas opportunities, but there will also be players similar to Paul, who are looking for an opportunity to showcase their talents after a season abroad.
Paul went undrafted in the 2013 NBA Draft, but stands to be a solid prospect if he’s able to latch on with an NBA D-League team for the remaining 15 (roughly) games.
